Google rolls out news feed

Google.com is going to be adding a Facebook-esque personalised newsfeed to its homepage, to show users the content that they may be interested in before they search.

Google has said that it will display stories, features, videos and music chosen based on the interests and searches of that user. Google has been so far trialing a version of newsfeed on mobile devices, but this version will be more expanded and advanced.

People have long turned to Google to get answers, learn about the world, and dig deeper on topics they’re passionate about. Today, we are announcing a new feed experience in the Google app, making it easier than ever to discover, explore and stay connected to what matters to you—even when you don’t have a query in mind.

The new newsfeed will be available over the next few weeks in the Google App on Android and iOS, as it rolls out in Australia. BBC reports that it will then arrive on web.
